Munnar trip

As republic day came on monday for this year, our group wants to utilize this day properly. Thats where we planned to visit Munnar followed by Alleppy and Athirpalley water falls in kerala.

We started our journey on friday night at 10 pm towards munnar as group of 9 in tempo traveller. Carried lot of movie and audio cds to have some fun in the tempo, as the journey is almost 11 hours. The path we choosed to reach munnar is

Bangalore - Hosur - Krishnagiri

Till Krishnagiri, the road is amazing (4 lane).

Dharmapuri - Bhawani - Salem

The route till Salem is on NH-7.Don’t enter Salem city; take a by-pass from there.

Perandurai - Vijapuri

(it’s a very small town so gotta ask someone; it’s 36 km from Perundarai. Take a left turn from here)The above are on NH-47. From Vijapuri when you take a left turn; you enter the Kerela/TN State highway.

Tirrupur

(There is no by-pass for this city, getting out of this city takes a lot of time)PaladamUdumalapettaiThe drive between Udumalapettai & Palladam is amazing with numerous windmills on either side of the road. Traffic is very little on this route.

Chinnar - Marayoor - Munnar.

we reached munnar by 10 am on saturday. We took a lodge and freshed up. Around 12:30 we went for lunch in saravana bavan and had south indian thali. For south indians this is the right place to get rice and which is tasty.

After having lunch we hired a local jeep for sight seeing as our tempo needs to be repaired. First we have been to photo point. Really its amaging place, full greenary with tea plantation. Took couple of photoes. Moved to Dam where we had speed boating in two boats, as individual boat is capable of 5 or 4 pesons. for each boat they will charge 300 rupess. Followed by echo point and shooting places. Came back to munnar and went to tata tea estates from which we can see the water falls. Over all nice site seeing. Paid 700 rupess to the local jeep.

Came back to room and had our dinner again in sarvana bavan ( you wont get rice in the night time, only dosa, idly and chapathi). By the time we finished our dinner tempo repair is completed and we started our journey to Alleppy around 11pm. Alleppy is 170 kms from munnar.

Reached Alleppy on sunday morning at 4: 30 and booked rooms in gokulam resorts near to sea shore. Its really good resort and maintained cleanly. slept for some time in the resort and marched to sea shore around 7 am. Played in sea water for two hours. Came back to resort and had break fast as we asked them to arrange. Again went in to water. Played for some more time.

Around 12:30 we have been to back water boating point. We took shikar boat ( accomodates 12 to 15 persons and charged 400 per hour- at any time dont contact brokers. Talk to the boat managers directly to get it for good price) as we want to spend only for 5 hours in water. Housing boats ( consists of two bed room ) are available at 12K for 23 hours. we couldnt opt for it as we need to do journey for the night. Enjoyed the boating trip and had fish fry ( very popular).

After the boating we came back to resort and marched towards sea to see the sun set. Beautiful scenary one will enjoy. Roamed along the sea shore and has ice creams and chat. Around 10 pm we started our journey towards athripally water falls.
